I had the opportunity to play with sound and projected film in some interesting spaces at Street and a Half studios, St. Helens.

In one of the spaces, there was a rather dilapidated piano, which allowed for some interesting sound experiments combining functioning notes with mechanical sounds of the piano’s keys and hammer action.

Projected visuals used live stream film of the inside of the piano and effects were modulated using envelope followers on the live audio.

Installations used both piano and vocal sounds to create an immersive and reactive environment.

Additional experiments in another environment (without a piano present!), focused on finding the resonant frequencies within the space. Vocals were looped to create a layered and immersive soundscape based on the naturally resonating frequencies, again with visuals which responded directly to the audio.

Thank you to everyone at Street and a Half and Artist-Led St. Helens for this opportunity.
